And so now begins the next chapter in my life and the life of Fran Betters Adirondack Sport Shop. First, allow me to apologize for taking so long to get this update online. Fran was the writer, not me but I guess it is in the cards for me to learn! His autobiography was so very close to being done. He had faith in me that I could finish it which is what I will do one way or the other. He also had faith that I, with the help of the partner of his choosing, Pat Allen, could and would continue the business he started forty nine years ago. That is what we intend to do. So if you hear that the Adirondack Sport Shop no longer exists, it is simply NOT true. It will be as it has always been, providing we have the support of all of you. Fran thought a lot about that and hoped and prayed we would have the support we needed. He was keenly aware of what was happening to him and over the last year taught Pat everything he needed to know in order to be able to build Fran Betters Custom rods exactly as they were always made. Pat has known how to tie FranŐs fly patterns for a long time. In addition, Fran taught several others exactly how to tie them like him so you will always be able to get these patterns tied correctly and tied well.

Those of you who have had rods ordered, please know that they are coming. As I explained to some of you personally, we are now manufacturing the wooden handles ourselves. It has taken time to get all the necessary equipment to do it correctly. In addition, we have been doing some grouse and pheasant guiding as we have to survive a long lean winter up here. This is something we will be adding to our web site soon as Pat has been doing this quite awhile.

In summation, please know that we are working hard to catch up and ask til we do, everyones patience. It is, for obvious reasons, taking time to sort out certain things and settle others. We also ask for your continued prayers and support. Jan
